With e-Upchar, Manage Medical Records Online

Haryana State Health Resource Center executive director Dr Sonia Trikha Khullar demonstrated how through e-Upchar, drug management, transport and blood bank management, healthcare systems in Haryana has been transformed radically. She shared that there has been substantial cost saving for the government with the coming of this facility. Under e-Upchar facility, patients are given ‘Unique Identification Number’ via which their health records can be accessed online at any hospital of Haryana. With the help of Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS), all the hospitals of Haryana, community health centers and primary health centers are being linked to e-Upchar system. Patients will no longer be required to carry physical records. Availability of various medicines and supplies can also be tracked. Under the facility, alerts are available for stock outs and expiry dates of drugs. Laboratories will be able to generate reports via e-Upchar. – TOI
