140 posts created for Wayanad Medical College

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Cabinet has decided to create a new post for the functioning of the new Medical College Hospital in Wayanad. Manan Sabadi District Hospital will be transformed into a Medical College Hospital.

The Cabinet has approved 140 new posts for this hospital. Of these, 115 are faculty posts and 25 are non-educational posts. The new three-story building built on the district hospital campus will be transformed into an academic block.

Teacher posts include 1 principal, 6 professors, 21 associate professors, 28 assistant professors, 27 senior residents, and 32 tutors or junior residents. Separately, posts such as Senior Manager, Accountant, and Junior Lab Assistant have been created in the non-education category.

In the previous budget, the government approved Rs 30 billion from KIIFB and established the Wayanad Medical College Hospital.

The Cabinet has also decided to create 55 new posts on the Coir Employee Welfare Commission, 60 posts on the Legal Officer’s office and 6 posts on the Malabar devaswom board.

The Cabinet has also decided to take over more than 10 support schools in the state. The ordinance will be promulgated and the Tody Development Committee will be established for the welfare of those involved in the industry. The ordinance also aims to promote and protect this traditional industry.

Amendments introduced by the Kerala Shop and Establishment Act will also be promulgated as ordinances. Wage revisions will be implemented for employees of Transformers and Electricals Kerala Ltd (TELK), Kerala Coir Workers Welfare Board, Kerala State Power and Infrastructure Finance Corporation, and managers and supervisors of Kerala Electricals and Allied Engineering Ltd.

Trial period policy
The government has decided to announce a trial period policy approved by the state cabinet. This policy is intended to bring back those who have been removed from the mainstream of society due to past misconduct.

The aim is to make such people the most useful to society. To this end, the government will provide them with sufficient training to equip them for employment and also provide financial support to find a source of their own lives. TOI
