AKAS SYRU 6006 from AKAS Medical Equipment

Over the past few years, the research and development team has been consistently working on solving niche problems of customers using innovative ideas and some of these innovations have been added to SYRU 6006 syringe pumps.

AKAS SYRU 6006 is a “smart pump” equipped with the dose error reduction systems (DERS) software which allows the syringe pumps to warn users of incorrect medication orders, calculation errors or mis programming that would result in improper dosage of a drug.

SYRU 6006 accommodates a drug name up to 2000 in a drug library mode. When the drug name chosen is from the vasopressor category the LEDs glow in the violet colour (as per international colour coding standards) and green indicating a vasopressor drug is getting infused. It is stackable with up to 4-5 pumps and can be carried with ease while transferring between wards.

The pump has Wi-Fi connectivity to transfer the infusion data wirelessly to the central monitoring station in a secure manner. It also has RS232 connectivity compatible with an HL7 communication protocol to seamlessly transfer data. The pump also equipped with dynamic pressure system where the pressure in the PMO line is displayed on the screen helping nurses identify an occlusion even before the occlusion has occurred. The same technology helps improve occlusion detection earlier resulting in better patient care. It is equipped with an anti-bolus function to prevent delivery of extra dosage or spillage of the drug post occlusion. It comes with an PCA option for pain management. It is compatibility with all the brand of intravenous set.

The keypad lock is incorporated for safety towards preventing patient access or accidental use. The Aspire key is introduced in the pump, which helps in identifying the connection of the catheter with the vein. It can also be used to collect back the drug while flushing the syringe to prevent wastage. Auto bolus and purge bolus keys are introduced as two separate keys for the ease of nursing staff to able to use them at their convenience. Auto bolus key also has an application of priming the PMO line and catheter for exact dead space volume as mentioned on the packaging label.

The flow rates range from 0.01ml/hr on all applicable syringe sizes varying from 2ml to 50/60ml syringes to ensure better accuracy, which has prime importance in neonatal and paediatric cases. It can be used in standby mode for 1 minute to 24 hours during which the infusion will be paused for the set time duration. It has adjustable flow rate soft limits. The pump comes with a strip LED above the syringe loading position which glows during the night time when the lighting becomes dull and can be adjusted to suit customer comfort levels in the ICU.

The vendor’s Quality Management system is designed as per ISO 13485:2016 medical device QMS standards. The product is CE certified and complied with electrical & functional safety tests as per European standards. The pump is IPX4 certified towards the prevention of accidental drug ingression.
