Ambala Hospitals Get National Level Certificate for Providing up to the Mark Facility to Patients

In the fourth week of January 2019, the teams of National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) had visited Ambala City and Cantonment civil hospitals for examining the quality of services being provided to the residents at both these hospitals of the state health department. As per the information, both the hospitals have received national level certificates for their services along with high scores. Ambala chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Sant Lal Verma informed that the results of the inspection have been declared and Ambala City civil hospital has scored 90 percent while the Cantonment hospital got 95 percent marks after the examination of NQAS. Dr Verma further added, “Under this scheme of NQAS, the Ambala hospitals would be getting the prize of Rs 50 lakh each from Government of India, and the funds could be only be used on bettering the services at the concerned hospitals.”

Giving information in this context, health minister Anil Vij said, “Getting the national level certificate for both the big hospitals of the district at the same time is an achievement for us. The NQAS teams examined our hospitals which have stood first in the entire state among those facilities which were visited by the teams.” The health officials say the examination was conducted to check facilities provided to patients, availability of medicines and other resources, staff behavior, capacity and efficiency, measures to prevent infestation and settlement, hospital facilities, water, safety, parking, cleanliness etc. at the hospital. The teams also checked the records and maintenance of patients in hospitals, assessed the quality of the hospital’s Operation Theater, Emergency and referral facilities. CMO Verma said, “The examination of Ambala Cantonment hospital was conducted from January 21 to 23 and for the City from January 23 to 25. These teams sent their report to the Government of India after evaluating the hospitals under the prescribed criteria.” – TOI
