APO appeals health minister to resolve issues with nurses

The Angami Public Organisation (APO) on Friday appealed to the Minister for Health and Family Welfare to intervene in the ongoing standoff between the staff nurses and the state government over the former’s recruitment and regularisation of appointment.

In a press release on Friday, the APO President Razouvoto Chatsu and Assistant General Secretary Lhousito Khro reasoned that the nurses who have been on strike for over a week had “had shown their utmost bravery by rendering their priceless services to the people” by risking their own lives and the lives of their families during the Covid-19 outbreak. “In our humble opinion, such selfless souls should be gratefully and compassionately awarded for their commitment to their calls and credit them with dignity and respect,” it maintained.

However, it viewed that the nurses’ representation to the concerned authority was reciprocated with distortion of their appointment order from the real advertisement notice and they were “degraded.” We are of the strong view that human dignity and selfless sacrifices need a human heart and a human touch to address their profound pleas, the APO stated while urging the Minister to “immediately intervene into their grievances without any further hiccups and resolve the issue urgently.”

“May we find a place to honour and award the bravery of our citizens at all time, then only we can hope to have healthy society whereby everyone is encouraged to remain prepared to render their best of services whenever call upon during the worst of the worst human crises in future,” it added.
