Ayurvedic Hospital Fails to Come up in Kurnool Despite Sanction of ₹10 Crore

Official apathy, lack of political will and misplaced priority of the district administration have proved costly and dented development in Kurnool. The case in point is setting up of Ayurvedic hospital. The State government allocated ₹10 crore for establishing an Ayurvedic hospital and college with 100 bed strength using the medicinal plants available in Nallamala forest, on February 10, 2015. The government issued G.O. MS No. HM & FW (D) in this regard. As per the G.O., they should construct the hospital by February 10, 2017. Deputy CM KE Krishnamurthy wants the hospital to come up near Kurnool, while YSRC leader Silpa Chakrapani Reddy wants it to be constructed in Srisailam. Even Banaganapalle MLA BC Janardhan Reddy tried to get it for his constituency. Ayush department doctors appealed to the government to establish the Ayurvedic hospital in Kurnool, as it would be ideally located close to Bellary of Karnataka and Mahabubnagar of Telangana and other parts of AP. Ten acres of land was needed to establish the 100-bed hospital. In response to the plea, the government agreed and allocated ₹10 crore fund from NABARD for the Ayurvedic hospital. Due to the indecision of authorities on setting up of the Ayurvedic hospital, the funds got lapsed. The district officials are unable to get back the lapsed funds from the government. – New Indian Express
