Coronavirus in Haryana Latest Updates: 22 fresh COVID-19 cases in Gurgaon, Faridabad; total reaches 964

After 36 fresh coronavirus cases were reported from Haryana on Tuesday, out of which 22 were from Gurgaon and Faridabad, the total number of cases has now risen in the state to 964. According to state Health Department’s bulletin, Gurgaon reported nine fresh cases, Faridabad 13 and Sonipat two. Among other districts, Panipat, Mahendragarh, Hisar and Charkhi Dadri reported two cases each, while Rohtak, Karnal, Jind and Palwal reported a case each. Gurgaon has 220 positive cases out of which 106 are active. Faridabad and Sonipat have a total of 163 and 139 cases, respectively, the bulletin stated. Total COVID-19 active cases in the state are 323 while the number patients who have been discharged is 627. The state has so far had 14 deaths, it stated.

Hundreds of migrant labourers gathered on an approach road to Bandra Terminus on Tuesday before the departure of a Shramik Special train for Bihar. The crowd was later dispersed by police, a Western Railway official said. In a video clip of Tuesday’s incident, a large number of migrants were seen carrying their luggage and running towards the gate of the Bandra Terminus. The crowd started gathering in the area around 11 am to board special trains to Purnia in Bihar.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Thane district on Tuesday went past the 4,000-mark after 241 people tested positive for novel coronavirus, said a health official. The COVID-19 case count now stands at 4,169, he added. There were seven deaths as well on Tuesday, taking the toll from the infection across the district to 128, he said. “Thane city now has 1,353 cases, while Navi Mumbai has 1,321,” he said. The Central government on Tuesday informed the Bombay High Court that state governments can now directly procure rapid antibody test kits from the 13 validated Indian companies to carry out surveillance testing for COVID-19. The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 3,163 and the number of cases climbed to 1,01,139 in India on Tuesday, registering an increase of 134 deaths and 4,970 cases of coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours since Monday 8 am, according to the union health ministry. A total of 39,174 patients, which is 38.73 per cent of the total cases, have recovered so far, officials said.

Coronavirus in UP Latest Updates: UP Congress chief stages protest as busses bringing migrant workers stopped

Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu and other party workers had staged a sit-in protest at Agra (UP)-Rajasthan border in Uncha Nangla area on May 19 after the buses they had arranged to bring back migrant workers from Rajasthan to UP, were not allowed to enter the state. The police removed him from the spot. The SP rural (west), Agra (UP) was quoted by ANI as saying that as per MHA guidelines “you need to apply for permission for inter-state bus movement after which pass is issued and permission is granted. They hadn’t applied and didn’t have pass”. So they were not allowed to enter. However, the SP clarified that UP Congress was not arrested.
