Gurugram to have its first govt medical college by 2024

After a delay of more than two years owing to Covid-19 pandemic, construction work has begun for setting up a new Government medical college in Gurugram’s Sector 102 in village Kherki Majra.

The 650-bedded “Sheetla Mata College cum Hospital”, offering 150 MBBS seats, will be built at an estimated cost of nearly Rs 700 crores.

The cost is being shared by GMDA (50%), Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (45%), and Mata Shrine Board (5%),

The construction work has been undertaken by the GMDA on nearly 30 acres of land.

Chief Minister Manohal Lal Khattar had announced the project in April 2018, and thereafter Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone in September 2019.

The work on the project, however, got delayed due to revisions in Budget and the Covid-19 pandemic.

The new government-owned medical college will have facilities such as an outpatient department treatment (OPD), speciality departments along with intensive care units (ICUs), and a trauma centre. The Delhi Crown
