Jharkhand increases medical aid grant for serious illness to Rs 10 lakh

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has increased the amount of medical aid grant from departmental level from Rs.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for the treatment of deserving persons under the Chief Minister’s Serious Illness Treatment Scheme and to list other incurable diseases in the list of already approved incurable diseases. Approval has been given on the related proposal.

The Chief Minister had directed to increase the amount considering the amount of Rs 5 lakh given earlier for the treatment of incurable disease as not sufficient. Thereafter the amount was increased to Rs.10 lakh. Now all the needy will get a lot of help in the treatment of incurable disease.

“Now people of Jharkhand will not have to be deprived of treatment due to money, many people used to come to me requesting that this cooperation amount should be increased under humanitarian approach, I want to express my gratitude to Chief Minister Hemant Soren ji, I have tried many times and requested him to raised this issue in the cabinet meeting also, now our sensitive Chief Minister has approved this proposal,” said state health minister Banna Gupta.

Incidentally, the Jharkhand had in 2020 had raised the amount to Rs 5 lakh towards medical treatment of critical diseases to people of the state with an annual income of less than Rs 8 lakh.

To avail the grant under the new proposal, beneficiaries will have to furnish proof of annual income of less than Rs 8 lakh for three consecutive years attested by circle officers.

A committee headed by a civil surgeon at the district level has given the power to approve the amount of any beneficiary after obtaining guidelines from the hospital concern. Upon approval, the amount would be given to the hospital through RTGS or bank draft,” he said.
