Lighting the way with diagnostics

In line with our corporate mission of shaping the advancement of healthcare, which is defined in the Sysmex Way – the corporate philosophy of the Sysmex Group, Sysmex works to contribute to the development of healthcare and the healthy lives of people. Also, our corporate message states our intention to enhance diagnostic value with innovative testing, to bring greater trust and confidence to healthcare, which is aptly defined in five words as Lighting the way with diagnostics.

Sysmex, a front runner in in-vitro diagnostics in India, has acquired market leadership in hematology with more than 20,000 successful installations across India with customer base starting from smaller stand-alone pathology laboratories to India’s largest sample-processing labs.

Sysmex analyzers are a preferred choice and used by pathology labs since 1993, the year in which Sysmex started selling their quality products in India through then distribution network. Over the years, and with advanced quality products, Sysmex customer base and acceptance increased in India many folds.

In 1998, Sysmex established a joint venture with Transasia Bio-Medicals and began manufacturing reagents in India. In 2007, the company established a reagent factory in Baddi, and in 2008 Sysmex converted the Baddi reagents manufacturing company to a wholly owned subsidiary. In this manner, Sysmex established a business base in India, centered on the field of hematology and coagulation, and promoted sales and support through then local distributor.

Since 2013, gradually Sysmex India started offering direct sales and support in the urinalysis, hemostasis, and flow cytometry segments of in-vitro diagnostics. From April 2019, Sysmex also commenced direct sales and support in the fields of hematology, anticipating further business expansion in line with India’s economic growth, increasing population, and progress on healthcare infrastructure.

By offering direct sales and support, Sysmex aims to foster direct customer communications, enabling it to provide solutions to the diverse issues customers face in the laboratories. This approach should also allow Sysmex to step up and further expand its activities, involving long-term customer engagements, quality application support, and extensive scientific knowledge-sharing initiatives – an area of strength – as part of its aim to be a comprehensive in-vitro diagnostic supplier in India. In line with this aim, Sysmex started investing in quality human resources in India. At the end of the last financial year, total Sysmex employee strength was 180+ and is continuously increasing with increased business need.

With direct operations in India, Sysmex acquired numerous customers including corporate chain labs and many government projects. Recently, Sysmex earned the biggest tender order in the Indian IVD industry in recent times. With this tender order, Sysmex partnered with the Karnataka government to provide quality services in hematology analysis to patients across the state of Karnataka in primary health centers, Taluk hospitals, and district hospitals. Sysmex also engaged with various state governments and the central government and PPP projects in many states in India directly or through authorized distribution partners. Since the last financial year, Sysmex India has expanded its sales and support activities in Bhutan also through a local channel partner. This is a big breakthrough in Bhutan by Sysmex India. In this project, all major health centers across Bhutan will be equipped with Sysmex hematology analyzers. This project is run by the Ministry of Health, Royal Government of Bhutan and is supported by Asian Development Bank, Malaysia.

Sysmex India continuously gives back to society through corporate social responsibility and has cultivated a culture of sustainability at its Mumbai corporate office and Baddi manufacturing plant. Sustainability improves the quality of our lives, protects our ecosystem, and preserves natural resources for future generations. At Sysmex, sustainability is associated with our organization’s holistic approach, taking into account everything from manufacturing to logistics to customer service. Also, tree plantation and their conservation are responsibly followed at Sysmex Baddi plant.

Sysmex Corporation, Japan, has also identified talent in India and has collaborated with Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai (IIT Bombay) to offer job placements and internships to students from India. In the last few years, quite a few students are selected to work at various departments, including R&D at Sysmex Corporation, Japan.

Going forward, Sysmex aims to continue to strengthen its sales and support network and provide excellent services to clients as it strives to contribute to the development of healthcare in India, and maintain its leadership is hematology, coagulation, and urine sediment analysis.
