Medical body questions Harsh Vardhan on Ayurveda protocols for coronavirus

Days after the health ministry and the Ayush ministry released an Ayurvedic protocol for the treatment of asymptomatic and mild coronavirus patients coronavirus in India, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) questioned the scientific basis of the government’s claims. Coming down hard on Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan for the Ayurveda and yoga protocols for coronavirus treatment, the medical body demanded to know how many ministers have so far got the Ayurveda treatment upon being testing positive for the Covid-19 infection.

“Whether the proponents of this claim and his ministry are prepared to subject themselves as volunteers to an independent prospective double-blind control study in prevention and treatment of coronavirus? How many of his ministerial colleagues have so far made the informed choice of getting treated under these protocols?” the IMA asked, adding, “What is stopping him from handing over coronavirus care and control to Ayush ministry?”

IMA demands that the Union Health Minister should come clean on the above posers. “If not, he is inflicting a fraud on the nation and gullible patients by calling placebos as drugs,” it added.
