Mindray HyLED C Series, born for smarter surgical lighting

This November, Mindray announced the global launch of its new surgical light series, HyLED C8/C7/C5. Adopting innovative technologies in optics and flexibility while inheriting the sleek design of Mindray surgical lights, the HyLED C series is well-equipped to optimize the vision and efficiency for the professionals in the OR.

With the advancement of medical technology and the increase in clinical needs, minimally invasive surgery, informatization, and intelligence have become the trends in the construction and development of operating rooms. Therefore, surgical lights are expected to achieve improvement in optical performance, flexibility, upgradeability, stability, and reliability.

Upgraded optics for open surgeries
Operating a surgery is pretty much like sailing a ship on an ocean. The chief surgeon, the captain of an OR, must be able to steer the rudder and navigate with a better vision to face any incidents.

Mindray HyLED C series inherits the sophisticated optic design of Multi-patch Superposition Technology (MPST) to facilitate open surgery. MPST is a technology that allows surgeons to have a clear and homogeneous light field. The light field remains uniform in illumination, shape and color even if it has been obstructed by surgeons’ heads during the operation. This means that the “captain” will have a sharp vision throughout the entire surgery.

With an optimized lens design, the HyLED C series works well for surgeries with small incisions, such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy or thyroidectomy, which require the light to be more focused and less glaring. In addition, the diameters of the patterns range from 14 cm to 30 cm, offering extra optical possibility for more different types of surgeries.

Wider vison for minimally invasive surgery
Different from open surgery, several small incisions might be performed on the body during minimally invasive surgery (MIS). The HyLED C series features a bionic “compound eye structure” lens to achieve a light spot with a diameter of as large as 60 cm, which can cover the whole chest and abdomen without the need to keep moving the light head during the surgery.

Besides the increased size of the spotlight, the endo mode is also upgraded. The traditional ambient light mode causes eye discomfort due to excessive illumination and non-uniform illuminance or unclear vision due to low illuminance. As recommended by Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, the surrounding operating field lighting should be 3,000 lux for medical staff between 25 and 65 years old. To protect surgeons’ eyes, the Mindray HyLED C series sticks to the standard. The combination of the features for MIS has led to the advent of M-field™, another patented technology by Mindray.

Optimized sustainability in illumination
As a device that works almost 24 hours a day, the surgical light must have outstanding sustainability. The HyLED C series’ Anti-attenuation THERMO Technology possesses the ability to compensate and optimize the attenuation characteristic curve of long-lasting LED lamp beads, ensuring stable illumination as long as ten years of service. The pure aluminium substrate allows proper dissipation of heat to avoid illumination attenuation during long-term operation. With this technology, the lighting keeps consistently stable for over 60,000 hours.

Multi-flexibility leads to a smarter OR
For improved convenience, the HyLED C series is unprecedentedly designed with stopless rotation to five joints, allowing the surgical team to position the lights toward the exact surgical field easily at any angle.

Besides stopless rotation, the HyLED C series also offers a multi-function handle, touch control options and a remote-control app to streamline the workflow and minimize operational hassles.

Modular design is the merit of Mindray’s surgical unit line, and HyLED C series is no exception. The HD monitor, 4K screen, adaptive display holder, quick lock system and other accessories can be incorporated into different portfolios based on different types of operating rooms.

In response to the increasing demands for complex surgeries from different types of hospitals, Mindray has launched six series of surgical lights in the past decade, benefiting both medical professionals and patients. As a pioneering provider of healthcare solutions, Mindray will continue to deliver cutting-edge and invaluable medical technology and care to patients, as well as strong support to medical professionals.
