Mizoram police gets new hospital

Mizoram’s Director General of Police (DGP) – Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS today inaugurated the new Police Hospital building at 1st Bn. MAP Complex, Armed Veng in Aizawl.

The function was attended by senior police officials of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), members of the Local Council of nearby locality Armed Veng & Armed Veng South, and medical officers & staff of the Hospital.

The facility has been constructed under the scheme of NEDP 2018-2019 undertaken by the UD&PA Department of Mizoram Government. Its construction work commenced from November 1, 2019 and was slated to be completed by April, 2022.

However, Covid-19 pandemic and other constraints delayed the construction works. Construction of the building was completed with sanction amount of Rs. 70 lakhs. The new Building covers an area of 34 x 22 feet with a basement, Ground Floor and 1st Floor.

The hospital is presently manned by one Medical Officer of 3rd Bn. MAP, five Staff Nurses (3 permanent & 2 attached), two Lab Technician (1 permanent & 1 attached), 1 Pharmacist and other fifteen supporting staff.

This hospital caters for all serving and retired officers and men of this unit, their families and even neighbouring civilians, free of cost. The Hospital also supplies medicines to the personnel on duty at Border Outposts. The Police Hospital provides the following medical facilities and tests : Hepatitis B&C (free); HB; Blood Grouping; H. Pylori; Typhoid; Malaria; Urine R.E. Northeast Today
