New OP Section Inaugurated at GRH

The new medicine outpatients’ (OP) section at the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH), was inaugurated on Monday. The need for a new OP section was necessitated as the old one was small and cramped and could not accommodate the 10,000 outpatients coming in every day. The new section has come up at the unutilized obstetrics and gynecology and neonatal wards, which were shifted to the neonatal wards, which were shifted to the new building of the hospital. The works were carried out at a cost of ₹40 lakh for the past several months. Dean of GRH, Dr D Marudhupandian, who inaugurated the newly- -renovated section said that it would have all facilities including a laboratory for diabetes testing. Hypertension patients can have their blood pressure checked here. A surgical section will also come up soon, he added.
