Odisha govt to increase hospital beds, develop health infra

In a bid to strengthen healthcare services across in Odisha, the health department has decided to increase the number of hospital beds following the guidelines of Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) – 2022.

The department has taken initiative to increase bed strength of Community Health Centres (CHC) across Odisha to 30 from their current strength 6-12. Besides, CHCs will provide 24/7 healthcare service.

Similarly, the bed strength of Sub-Divisional Hospitals will be increased to 100 and of District Headquarters Hospitals to 300, the health department of Odisha has directed.

The move comes following Centre’s directive to all state governments to follow IPHS -2022 guidelines.

Besides, the Odisha government has taken initiative to develop the infrastructure of CHCs, SDHs and DHHs with ultramodern testing facilities and better hospital management with two beds per 1,000 population.

The new guidelines have been formed to prove world-class healthcare facilities in the country. Odisha News
