Udupi, take over process of Mother & Child Hospital completed

Koosamma Shambu Shetty memorial Haji Abdullah mother and child hospital in the heart of the city is taken over by the government as per the decision taken in the cabinet meeting. An official government order is released in this regard.

Four acres of land that belongs to the health and welfare department of the taluk is also taken over by the state government. The maintenance and other responsibilities of the hospital will be looked after by the government henceforth.

The government, in its order has decided to provide the annual maintenance cost of Rs seven crore of the hospital and Rs 2.83 crore for human resources and other expenses. It has also given order to fill the necessary vacancies of the 200 bed mother and child care hospital.

The government had earlier given the hospital on contract for a period of 30 years to M/s B R S Health Research Institute private limited Bengaluru under certain conditions.

MLA Raghupati Bhat had put effort to take maintenance of the hospital back to the government and also raised the issue during assembly session.
