Veena George launches new pediatric ICU Wing at SAT Hospital

Health minister Veena George will inaugurate the new pediatric ICU wing at the SAT Hospital on Thursday. The government had spent Rs 96 lakh for setting up this new wing.

Presently, the hospital is having an 18-bed ICU facility at the pediatric department. With the addition of 32 more beds and state-of-the-art equipment, the ICU will cater to all the emergency needs of the children. Apart from this, 54 ICU beds are available in the new-born wing of the hospital.

It will have 32 ICU beds, ten ventilators, six non-invasive bypass ventilators, two portable ultrasound machines, three defibrillators, 12 monitors and allied equipment. The new ICU will be specialized in intensive respiratory care.

The health minister said the SAT hospital is one of the biggest women and child care hospitals in south India. It is estimated that over 10,000 students are born in a year at this hospital. Newszf
