Mahabubnagar: 600-bed hospital worth Rs 100 cr to be set up

Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud said efforts were being made to construct another 600 bed hospital with a cost of nearly Rs100 crore on the District Government Hospital premises in the town to offer quality medical and health services to the people.

Already plans have been drawn to construct the hospital which will be equipped with a emergency block, out patient block, 12 operation theatres, MRI, CT Scan, Radiology, causality and general surgery services. A completely mechanised laundry section is also being proposed, he said.

“The idea is to offer quality medical and health services on par with Yashoda, Apollo and other corporate hospitals, ” said Srinivas Goud.

In 2014, only 80 institutional deliveries were recorded in the District Government Hospital but the deliveries have now escalated to over 2,000. This was possible as the government was extended all the required equipment and increasing the doctors, nurses and staff members, the Minister said while addressing the mediapersons on the sidelines of presenting appointment letters to 40 staff nurses at his camp office here.

The Minister said all arrangements were being made to ensure that people of Mahabubnagar do not have to travel to Hyderabad for quality medical and health services in the future. Measures are being taken to offer quality and affordable treatment to the poor, he said and appealed that all sections should extend their cooperation in this regard.

Earlier, the Minister got Corona vaccine administered at the district government hospital and urged that people aged above 45 years should get vaccinated.

Sufficient vaccines are made available in the district and people should not be negligent in following covid guidelines prescribed by the government, he said.

An exclusive 150 bed ward was set up in the district government hospital for Corona patients and for the convenience of those in home isolation, medicines and consultation were being provided at their doorsteps, he added. Telangana Today
