AdtU inaugurates new labs for physiotherapy

The Assam Down Town University (AdtU) inaugurated new labs for the physiotherapy programme that include Gait Lab, Electromyography studies lab and Pulmonary Function test lab with Spirometer which will be able to cater the need of the new education prospect of Physiotherapy. This is the first time in Assam that these three medical assets are coming up in the same University.

The occasion was graced by Jyotisman Duta, Managing Trustee, AdtU, Dharmeshwar Das, Chairperson of Research AdtU, Pratap Ch Sarma, Principal, Chairperson of Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, Binod Ch Sarma, Associate professor, Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, Nirmali Sarma, Associate Professor. Faculty of Paramedical, Tarini Kanti Das, Professor, Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, Ganesh, Dean of Physiotherapy, Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, Abhijit Dutta, Associate Dean, Faculty of Paramedical Sciences along with other dignitaries.

Gait lab will help in the assessment, diagnosis and proper plan of treatment by studying various parameters of gait, differentiating normal and abnormal gait, and also assists in critical analysis of gait abnormalities. Electromyography study labs will be able to provide diagnostics to rule out any musculoskeletal issues. A Pulmonary Function Tests lab and Spirometer will help to understand and evaluate the lung quality and functions. Spirometer is also an important tool for respiratory muscle training. Guwahati Plus
