All Health Centers to Get Emergency Care Room: Vishwajit Rane

Health minister Vishwajit Rane on Saturday said all primary and community health centers will have emergency care rooms within the next six months. He made the announcement during the launch of the emergency care center, an advanced life support ambulance fitted with ventilators, at Aldona primary health center (PHC), in memory of Januz Gonsalves. The health minister also said a ‘108 ambulance’ service will be launched at the Aldona PHC, in memory of the young man, whose body was erroneously disposed of by the GMC morgue. Rane said the health department is planning to launch in December a “first of its kind program in the country wherein cardiac patients will be thrombolyzed and moved to the closest cardiac center so that the window period can be increased”. The same initiative will be replicated with stroke patients, he added. Rane also said electronic tagging of bodies at morgues will be delayed further as the health department was unsatisfied with the presentations of two companies introduced by the GSIDC. – TOI
