AP Awaits Center’s Nod for Air Ambulance Services

The state government has been waiting for Center’s nod to introduce air-ambulance services to shift seriously injured persons in the road accidents to the nearest hospitals to render medical services and to save their lives. The proposal is pending with the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation.  As soon as the Center gives permissions, the state government will introduce two air ambulance services in the first phase. Developed countries like USA and UK have already introduced air ambulances to transport patients in life threatening condition to nearest hospital. Several leaders including K Yerran Naidu, Lal Jan Basha, Nandamuri Hari Krishna and YSRCP leader Sobha Nagi Reddy died in road accidents. When major road accident takes place, the seriously injured person loses their blood and in many cases their lives.

The government is feeling that it is better to introduce air ambulance services, instead of giving lakhs of rupees of ex-gratia to the kin of the deceased. Speaking to media here on Monday, Special Chief Secretary Medical and Health Poonam Malakondaiah said “We have sent proposal to the Central government for necessary permission to introduce air ambulance services. Union ministry of Civil Aviation has to give necessary permission. We are waiting for nod of the Central government. As soon as we get permissions, we will take further steps to introduce air ambulances.” – The Hans India
