Apollo Hospitals collaborates with Microsoft

Apollo Hospitals, one of Asia’s largest and most trusted healthcare groups, has launched an enhanced offering under the Apollo ProHealth Programme, the powerful AI-enabled proactive health management programme.

Apollo ProHealthDeepX on Microsoft HoloLens 2 will give individuals an immersive mixed reality experience to help visualise what is happening inside their body and nudge them to make positive lifestyle shifts for a healthier tomorrow.

DeepX’s innovative software harnesses the power of machine learning and digital signal processing and with the mixed reality technology blends the physical and digital world to create a visual experience of the heart as never before. This supplementary imaging solution will further enhance patient experience as part of Apollo’s preventive care initiative.

Dr Prathap C. Reddy, chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group said, “A startling fact that should open our eyes to the danger of non-communicable diseases is that NCDs are responsible for 65 per cent of deaths in India. WEF has estimated that India’s financial burden due to NCDs will be around USD 4.6 trillion by 2030 – a burden our country cannot afford. People at their most productive age between 35 to 60 years are at higher risk because of their family history and their lifestyle choices. They are sometimes sole breadwinners for their families, and their absence causes emotional and financial burden for their families. Our studies have shown that 80 per cent of premature deaths due to NCDs are preventable through early detection and timely interventions. It is here that we are using technology to motivate and support individuals to lead long and healthy lives. I would like to share my own experience with ProHealthDeepX. It provided a realistic image of my heart and helped me understand what is happening inside my body. I am sure that this new innovative development in our ProHealth programme will help more people take the positive step towards regular screening and adopt a healthier lifestyle.”

ProHealthDeepX gives a visual insight into what is happening inside a person’s heart, personalized based on their vitals and medical/family history. A cardiac risk score powered by Apollo’s Artificial Intelligence engine, built with Indian population data, is generated and the data is used to visualize a 3D image of a heart with the impact of an individual’s risk factors.

Sangita Reddy, joint managing director, Apollo Hospitals Group said, “Mixed reality that blends physical and digital worlds, is helping businesses solve many challenges using visual guidance. The fact remains that visual data makes a lasting impression and a greater impact on people than just plain numbers. We are excited to collaborate with a technology leader like Microsoft to bring innovative solutions in healthcare that simplify the disease processes for a layperson and allow them to visualize the changes taking place in their bodies. ProHealthDeepX is a valuable awareness tool, and we will soon implement this in our key hospitals across the country.”

NCDs are referred to as “silent killers” as many people are not aware they have it until it is in an advanced state. The changes take place deep in the body and there may be no symptoms. The ProHealthDeepX uses technology to make the intangible and invisible changes due to the disease ‘seen’ to the individual through advanced visualisation. This innovative platform will also help in making people aware about their body systems and make them take the changes taking place seriously.

Highlighting the role of technology in the healthcare industry, Sashi Sreedharan, managing director for Microsoft India said, “Mixed reality and AI solutions have an incredible potential to drive transformative experiences in the healthcare sector by accelerating diagnoses, reducing time -to -care and proving intelligent insights for better patient outcomes. In coming years ProHealthDeepX solution using HoloLens 2 will enhance patient experience by allowing patients to view and understand their health conditions in a better manner. We are pleased to collaborate with Apollo Hospitals and deploy solutions which will accelerate innovation and address preventive care for patients.” Pharmabiz
