Apollo Hospitals launches Diabetic Foot Clinics in Hyderabad

Apollo Hospitals Group on Friday announced the launch of Apollo Diabetic Foot Clinics to provide preventive and therapeutic care in the treatment of the diabetic foot. The first branch of the new facility will be inaugurated on the occasion of World Diabetes Day on Sunday at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills.

The specialised clinics would help in the identification of signs of a diabetic foot early and prevent complications through proper diabetes management. The major aim would be to reduce the risk of ulcers, infections and lower limb amputations due to infections arising from diabetes, a press release said.

“The new facility will be a centre of excellence for diabetic foot care and help in addressing the growing healthcare challenge of diabetes,” said Dr Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group. Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group, Dr Sangita Reddy said that that almost 80 per cent of diabetic foot amputations can be prevented with better care and support and the new facility will strive to help such patients.

Hospital senior doctors including endocrinologist, Dr R N Mehrotra will be available for consultations and senior orthopaedic surgeon, King’s College Hospital, London, Prof Venu Kavarthapu, will be available for consultation once a month. Telangana Today
