Around 1 Lakh Enrolled in Health Scheme: Biren Singh

Around one lakh families have been enrolled under Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) or health scheme so far, claimed Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh. He was speaking as the chief guest at a function organized at Classic Hotel in Imphal to celebrate the successful implementation of CMHT at SKY Hospital, Imphal. Health Minister L Jayantakumar, Principal Secretary (Health) V Vumlunmang and SKY Hospital and Research Center Chairman Dr Shyamkishore Lairikyengbam also attended the function as dignitaries. The Chief Minister said that CMHT was an outcome of his constant interactions with different sections of the people during his 15 years of public life. It has been his dream to introduce a scheme which would help needy people to receive quality medical treatment, he added.

It took around six months to conceive the scheme, the Chief Minister said while expressing pleasure that the scheme had started serving its intended purpose. He said that soon after its launch, the Indian Express Group selected CMHT for the award of Most Efficiently-Run Health Program by a State Government. The Chief Minister also said that the State Government also faced risky situations before the launch of the scheme and stated that people who are in politics should work with an objective to serve the needy people. Speaking at the occasion, Health Minister L Jayantakumar announced that Flying Doctors (air ambulance service) would become a reality soon.

Stating that construction of helipads in different districts for the project would begin soon, the Minister informed that DoNER Ministry has agreed to provide some financial assistance for the construction of helipads. L Jayantakumar said that CMHT was launched with the sole objective of helping needy people despite having financial constraints by the State Government. The State Government thought that the Right to Life of people should not be compromised with the weak financial position of the State, he added. It may be mentioned that SKY Hospital is the first hospital in the State which started free treatment for various heart patients under CMHT. 36 patients had been given treatment under the scheme in the private hospital so far. The function was organised to celebrate successful implementation of the scheme which is the brainchild of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. – Morung Express
