Assam to build new medical college and hospital in Karimganj

The Assam Government has announced that a new Medical College and Hospital will be built in RK Nagar, Karimganj in Assam.

The Karimganj Medical College and Hospital campus will be built at a cost of ₹674.81 crore and will include a hospital building, a medical college building, hostel buildings, residential buildings for staff and service buildings, as per the announcement.

The Hospital building is expected to have around 430 beds, 47 ICU beds along with 9 major and 2 minor operation theatres, while the proposed medical college will intake around 100 students yearly based on National Medical Commission (NMC) norms.

The decision to build the Medical College and Hospital was approved by the Assam Cabinet in the Cabinet meeting held on Sunday.

In the meeting, the Assam Cabinet also approved the establishment of Barak Valley Kiran Sheikh Development Council, aiming to increase Social Justice in Barak Valley. Guwahati Plus
