Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, there have been massive disruptions across different industries, apparently challenging the healthcare industry the most. Despite Covid-19’s many devastating impacts, it has also presented the healthcare sector with a powerful opportunity to accelerate innovation and reinvent itself.

India has strongly faced the challenges brought by 2+ years of widespread pandemic and its emerging mutants – Delta, Omicron, etc. The diagnostics industry has been rapidly trying to keep pace with this deadly virus, and has been pushed into devising innovative techniques and newer tests to deal with the same, with high quality, precision equipment, and the latest software applications.

Roadmap and vision 2022
Product and value addition. At HORIBA, we always cater to the market requirements with the most cost-effective solutions for our customers. Our high-end hematology product line, HELO (HORIBA Evolutive Laboratory Organization) is a perfect fit to address the new challenges.

HORIBA Medical also expects to play a key role in up-skilling and re-skilling healthcare professionals and enhancing connect with customers, be it digital or physical. To ensure the same, HORIBA India has devised various healthcare professional courses at HORIBA India Technical Institute (HITI) and HORIBA Experience Zone (HEZ), set up at Nagpur, Maharashtra. HORIBA India aims to provide a conceptual understanding of modern IVD technologies and the best laboratory practices along with analytical skill development, thus aiming toward ameliorated Indian healthcare sector.

Export vision. We plan to enhance export business with SAARC countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Maldives to improve our footing with public sector and institutional customers across these countries. We also look forward to enhancing scientific learning and engagement with customers and opening new regional offices across these countries.

We expect a significant influx of government funds, and are well prepared to cater to the needs of the medical sector both in terms of product supply and skilled manpower.

Mergers and acquisitions. On the acquisition front, to expand the laboratory chemistry offerings, HORIBA, Ltd., and HORIBA Instruments have acquired MedTest Holdings, Inc. (composed of MedTest Dx, Inc., Pointe Scientific, Inc., Clinitox Diagnostix, Inc., and Medical Laboratory Solutions, Inc.). This acquisition will combine the complementary innovative technology offerings of HORIBA Medical with MedTest Dx technology, Clinitox, and Pointe Scientific’s R&D and manufacturing capabilities, with expertise in FDA 510K and CLIA clearances, to address the multidisciplinary requirements of IVD testing customers.

Alongwith the expansion of clinical chemistry solutions, we are also looking forward to expanding our portfolio to immunochemistry and molecular diagnostics.

Supply chain. As we face an unfamiliar world of remote working, virtual doctor visits, and a supply chain marked by shortages of medical supplies, personnel, and services, the sector is transforming to meet the new challenges. HORIBA India’s vision for 2022 ensures the supply chain movement with timely decisions and right strategies. Our flexible 24×7 supply network has always been helpful in minimizing the risk of disruption and currently, the global supply chain including imports also continues with less disruption due to smart practices adoption and corrective market demand forecast. We are investing in the team and infrastructure to be agile and proactive to handle the sudden disruptions and changes in customer demand patterns.

Human resources. At HORIBA, we consider employees as our biggest asset, and we believe ourselves to be one strong united family.
