CM nods for reimbursement of medical expenses to Koraga community

The state government had stopped the reimbursement of medical expenses scheme for the Adivasi tribe, Koraga community if they obtained treatment for their serious ailments at private hospitals.

The community had staged protests recently urging the government not to stop the scheme.

A delegation of MLAs of three districts in the leadership of MLA K Raghupathi Bhat visited chief minister Basavaraja Bommai on September 14 and submitted a memorandum to him in this connection. The chief minister has responded positively to the requests and telephoned Manivannan, chief secretary of the department of social welfare to continue reimbursement of the medical expenses to the tribe subject to one time payment from the year 2023. Medical camps will also be held in the colonies where the community members reside.
