Continuing to serve humanity

We greet 2021 with the headline hint that the end might finally be in sight for the pandemic. The onset of 2021 and with the introduction of the vaccines, gives me the confidence to walk the roadmap of 2021 towards sustained growth and stability. To me, 2020 has been a year of learning, resilience, agile planning and execution of thoughtful bold steps. We witnessed a culture of collaborative workflow processes involving both scientists and doctors, upholding faith in science working relentlessly, serving humanity in a selfless passion, which has given healthcare workers a great opportunity to serve and help, treat clinically and at the same time allay fears and bring hope. The compassionate culture and camaraderie that we witnessed give me hope for a better 2021. Yes, the deadly virus will be there but it cannot beat the passion, grit or determination of a healthcare worker that we witnessed repeatedly in the last year. I would like to welcome 2021 with our aim at becoming the best medical facility with modern and advanced clinical facilities serving people from different walks of life.

To elaborate on the roadmap 2021, I plan to steer a healthcare organization (having three hospitals CMRI and BMB in Kolkata, and RBH in Jaipur) focusing on the existing transformation in the field of new innovative digital technology, improve processes, cost optimization and clinical excellence at par with world standards. It is apparent that the healthcare industry is seeing a transformational shift in the use of next-generation technologies like big data, cloud computing, predictive analytics, mobility, the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and machine learning. We too are focusing on the innovative robust digital transformation, adopting digital enabler, which would create a sea of opportunity for patients and manage care, which would move toward a care delivery model that is truly value-based. Well-calibrated roadmap for digital solutions ensuring, doctors and patients engagements through patient portals, online appointment bookings, telemedicine, remote monitoring, data sharing apps, alert/notification tools, etc are some basic solutions which we in the process of implementing.

Going forward we would analyze clinical data to identify opportunities to improve utilization, make care delivery processes more effective, enhance the quality of diagnoses and lower the risk of missed opportunity. We hope to leverage a wide variety of self-innovative tools and platforms to manage and analyze this data, to generate significant insights and ensure deep patient-doctor communications through virtual reality and augmented reality. To add on, COVID-19 has firmly established the need for active action and the establishment of a robust, collaborative, scalable, and agile digital healthcare infrastructure. Interesting to note is, the patient journey is still in its infancy. However, with time patients would increasingly choose healthcare providers who can respond to their needs. Seamless processes improving patient experience is about improving the sum of all interactions that influence patient perceptions across the range of care. However, what matters to patients are excellent clinical outcomes that lead to higher quality of life. Patients stay loyal to health systems that create excellent experiences.

On this positive note, let us respect and provide for every patient that walks into our doors and continue to provide the clinical excellence and compassionate care that has now become the hallmark of CK Birla Hospitals. Today the task in hand is to educate, engage and empower the employee so that they can adjust to the new norm, keeping in mind that if we stand still for long we might fall and if we go too fast we could go wrong. Therefore, we must take cautious steps yet at the same time; put ourselves out there to do what we know best – serve. We cannot afford to falter or miss a step. With this in mind, we hope that 2021 will bring us back to the new rhythm of life.

Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.– Pablo Picasso
