A Denmark-funded Covid Hospital with 54 oxygen beds came up today in a rural area in Assam.

The authorities decided to set up the Covid hospital in the state during the Covid-19 pandemic. The hospital came up at Uluoni in the Nagaon District in Kaliabor Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC). Generous support from Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF), Denmark, helped complete the hospital. The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) of Bengaluru executed the project with the Assam Health Authorities under guidelines of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to the Prime Minister, Government of India, and Danish Embassy.

The hospital project began in July 2021. The highlight of the hospital is showcasing that rapid installation of the healthcare facilities in remote areas is doable quickly and efficiently in response to challenges in public health.
