Diagnos Celiac Card from J Mitra & Company Pvt Ltd

Celiac disease is emerging as a major epidemic for the world, and there is currently no known cure for this disease.

Celiac is a disease where gluten consumption may lead to damage of the small intestine. In these patients, the gluten protein is not digested completely, leading to damage to the small intestinal mucosa where food is absorbed.

Though caused by allergy to gluten present in wheat and other grains, it is often wrongly confused with gluten intolerance, underestimated, and under-reported. It is an autoimmune disorder that occurs in people who are genetically predisposed. Differences in celiac disease prevalence between North and South India could be ascribed to differences in dietary patterns (rice being the staple cereal in South India) or due to differences in genetic makeup. 100 grams of wheat has 80 percent or about 80 grams of gluten protein, while just 50 mg is enough to cause serious harm to a celiac patient.

Celiac is a multi-system disorder, and has varied symptoms across various ages, thus making it extremely difficult to detect the same without proper diagnostics. Gastrointestinal manifestations may include diarrhea, weight loss, failure to thrive, stunting, abdominal pain, bloating and distension, anorexia, vomiting, and constipation. On the other hand, celiac disease patients often present with extra-intestinal manifestations with minimal gastrointestinal symptoms.

Early detection and diet management is the only solution for proper management of this disease. Celiac disease cannot be cured.

The only Indian organization, focusing on the diagnosis of celiac in India, is J Mitra & Company. Based on the Rapid test technology J Mitra’s Diagnos Celiac Card gives an accurate test result in under 20 minutes.

It is a visual, rapid, sensitive, and accurate one-step immunoassay for the qualitative detection of anti tTG IgA, IgG and IgM antibodies in human serum or plasma. The assay is intended to be used as an aid in the recognition and diagnosis of celiac disease. It is available in both Elisa and Rapid test.

Celiac is a major cause for concern because its effects are silent, yet long-lasting. Most of the times, the absolute actual cause is never diagnosed and the patient continues to get treated for something absolutely different. As per an estimate, 80 percent of celiac patients never get the proper diagnosis, and thus continue to endure the pain and suffering ineffectively and endlessly.
