What started as a collaboration with Olympus Japan as a microscope supplier today comprises of verticals including clinical diagnostics – molecular and immunohistochemistry, micro-imaging, food testing, medical, Magnus, DSS TakaraBio. In its endeavor to provide innovative and affordable products to the Indian market, in 2013, DSS set up an R&D facility.

Cervical cancer in women is the second-leading cause for female mortality in India. Human papilloma virus (HPV) is found to be the cause in 8–10 percent of the population while only 3.1 percent of Indian women are screened for HPV.

This led DSS to launch an affordable molecular assay targeted as a one-stop-solution for HPV screening and detection, named CervSure that includes collection, detection, and genotyping. To complete the flow of testing, DSS has also launched a unique DNA extraction kit, which can accept various types of samples.

CervSure cervical specimen collection kit

For liquid-based cytology (LBC) and HPV DNA screening.

Features. 100-percent specimen transfer rate; convenient pack sizes; and easy to use.

Contents. Cervical specimen collection brush; and prefilled buffer vials for cervical specimen collection.

DNA extraction kit

Features. Rapid and easy DNA extraction; and various acceptable sample types – blood, tissue, hair follicle, semen, swab, urine.

Contents. Proteinase K; proteinase K dilution buffer; other buffers; and Spin columns.

CervSure HPV detection kit

Features. Available on open mode real-time PCR; qualitative detection of different types of HPV, including all high-carcinogenic risk HPV types; and validated on various clinical specimens including cervical scrapes, vaginal swabs, cervical biopsy samples, and semen samples.

Contents. Primers; positive control; internal controls; and molecular grade water.

HPV direct-flow chip
Features. All 36 genotypes detected including high-risk 16,18 and Easy to use on Hybrispot system – available in manual, semi-automated, and automated format. Apart from HPV, Hybrispot system can also be used for other parameters, such as AMR, Bacterial CNS, Tick-Borne, STD, among others.
