ESKEYN Ventures to pump Rs 80 crore into CfHE, IIT Hyderabad

TheCenter for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE) at IIT Hyderabad will be undertaking a massive expansion in innovation in healthcare technologies, powered by the infusion of US$ 9.6 Million (Rs. 80 Crore Approx) by Sushant Kumar, Founder of Tanushree Foundation and ESKEYN Ventures.

This funding support will also provide an impetus towards CfHE’s efforts toachieve indigenisation of technology in this critical field. The Center, which is a Nationally-recognized Healthcare Technology Business Incubator,aims to accelerate the development and adoption of breakthrough healthcare solutions to address unmet needs and improve patient outcomes.

Healthcare challenges are becoming increasingly complex and diverse, as was evident during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Initiatives like CfHE foster a culture of innovation and collaboration by working jointly with academia, industry and the entrepreneurial community.

Lauding the work underway at CfHE, Sushant Kumar, Founder of Tanushree Foundation and ESKEYN Ventures, stated,

Some of the Key Innovations that have come out of include:

  • ArmAble, which is a neurorehabilitation device for stroke from the Start-up BeAble Health Pvt Ltd
  • NemocareRaksha a small IoT enabled wearable for safeguarding neonates from NemocareWellnes Pvt Ltd
  • Vaccine on Wheels platform enabling vaccinations at the last mile with a reach to 2.5 Million beneficiaries in 3 years from Jivika Healthcare Pvt Limited.

The pledge marks a significant stride towards fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector. Sushant Kumar’s commitment underscores the growing recognition of the pivotal role that entrepreneurship plays in driving advancements and solutions within the healthcare industry.

Sharing his vision for the institute becoming a beacon of innovation with far-reaching societal impact, Prof B. S. Murty, Director,IIT Hyderabad, said, “We envision IITHyderabad to be the cradle of innovations that touch the lives of millions and create a significant impact in the society. Medical Devices and Diagnostics is one of the key areas of healthcare where a considerable gap exists in the supply of devices, trained workforce, and indigenous development.”

Recognizing the critical need for innovation in medical devices and diagnostics, Prof. B.S. Murty said, “CfHE undertakes proactive efforts to address this gap through focused programs.With a vision for Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and Make in India, CfHE, IITH has taken bold steps in addressing this gap through focused programs in Medical Devices, Development of Human Resources, and Promotion of start-ups for indigenous development of medical devices and innovations.”

Kumar’s generous pledge will further bolster CfHE’s initiatives aimed at nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation in the healthcare sector.
