First Women & Child OPD Opens In Faridkot

Constructed at a cost of Rs35 crore, the first mother and child hospital in the area was opened at the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot on Wednesday. The outpatient department (OPD) of the gynecology department was inaugurated by Kushaldeep Dhillon, adviser to Punjab Chief Minister.

The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) had envisaged the Mother and Child Hospital with a provision of 260 beds, said Dr Raj Bahadur, vice chancellor of the BFUHS. Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital is a constituent institution of BFUHS.

The construction of first phase of the hospital has been completed. It has total bed strength of 130 with three major operation theatres, labour room, seminar rooms, general wards and special rooms, said the vice chancellor.

Kushaldeep Dhillon said the OPD would play a vital role in providing best and affordable healthcare facilities to women and children from the region.

Dr Raj Bahadur the OPD would reduce patient load in the old building.-Tribune India
