Fortis to add 400 beds; operational bed count expected to reach 4,800

Gurugram-based Fortis Healthcare eyes double-digit revenue growth this year led by an increase in volume and average revenue per occupied bed (ARPOB).

Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, Managing Director and CEO said the the plan is to add about 400 beds this year. “We will be creating a capacity of about 700, but operationalising about 400. With all this, we expect to be at least in double digit growth.”

The company added nearly 246 beds last year.

With this year’s expansion, the total operational bed count is expected to be at 4,800.

The company’s January-March consolidated net profit was ₹138 crore, while revenue from operations was at ₹1,786 crore.

Fortis Healthcare is also optimistic about the prospects of its diagnostic business segment. Raghuvanshi said the diagnostic industry is now stabilising with competitive pressures easing.

He foresees a 9-10% revenue growth for the company’s diagnostic arm, Agilus, fuelled by an expanded specialised test menu, with a particular emphasis on genetic testing

The margin in the diagnostics segment are likely to be around 20%.

The company has a market capitalisation of ₹34,954.56 crore. Its shares have gained 61% over the last year. CNBCTV18
