Fujifilm SonoSite advocates visual medicine and the ethical use of ultrasound

Fujifilm SonoSite Inc. is working with its India team on a new academic vision for its business where they will be advocating visual medicine by providing education and training to doctors. SonoSite supports ethical use of ultrasound and abides by all laws that restrict or outlaw gender determination in India. SonoSite advocates visual medicine because the rapid and accurate diagnostic information through ultrasound has significant benefits for patient outcome, costs, reducing mortality, and medical-legal risk scenarios at point of care (PoC) environments. Another motive behind advocating visual medicine is the issue related to lack of physicians expertise on use of ultrasound in critical care and emergency wards across South Asia. In India hardly 7 percent PoC physicians have actual access to ultrasound in their regular practice and their numbers are growing at a significant CAGR of around 3.8 percent.

SonoSite’s online and in-person educational options are designed to improve physicians’ knowledge of ultrasound practices. SonoSite has partnered with clinician educators around the world to produce specialty specific PoC ultrasound education resources. Apart from this, Fujifilm SonoSite-India provides continuous academic support to various medical societies in India. Beyond its involvement with these well-known medical societies, SonoSite offers support in the form of loaned ultrasound systems, clinical personnel assistance, blue phantoms, facilitate academic observer ships, and organize educational training with the prominent PoC physicians in India.
