G20: EMS mock drill held to test health preparedness

The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir on Wednesday conducted an emergency medical service (EMS) mock drill to take stock of the health preparedness at designated venues in the wake of G20 Summit events in Kashmir.

The mock drill was monitored and supervised by Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather at DHSK Main Office Bemina and a dry run was carried from DHSK office to SKIMS Soura and Kashmir Nursing Home to check the preparedness.

The drill was participated by doctors and paramedical staff who have been tasked for the healthcare arrangements in view of G20 Summit events in Kashmir. Critical care ambulances were also put in place during the mock drill.

“We are fully prepared with the arrangements. We will keep no stone unturned to provide best healthcare to the G20 visiting delegates,” the director said.

Spokesperson Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mir Mushtaq said all the Nodal Officers and deputed staff took part in the mock drill exercise.

The mock drill was conducted at venues like Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport, Taj Vivanta, Hotel Lalit and Sheri Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), Srinagar.

The Nodal Officers and deputed staff including senior doctors will now submit recommendations to the health department.

Earlier, the respective officers were instructed to ensure that all the healthcare arrangements are in ready mode and the exercise will help improve lacunas if any.

The health department has established special clinics at the important spots and doctors have been trained in basic life support and drugs have been procured for events. Rising Kashmir
