IIT-K to drive biological advancements through tech intervention

Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) introduced Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology, and the Yadupati Singhania Super Specialty Hospital to industry leaders and dignitaries from Uttar Pradesh. The event was hosted to present about the initiatives planned for healthcare and MedTech innovation in India.

“The synergy between industry and academia promises to integrate technology and innovation with medical sciences, propelling IIT Kanpur into the global arena of excellence,” the official statement read.

The institute briefed about first of a kind initiative to drive biological advancements through technological intervention, partnerships for collaborative research and innovation among other initiatives.

Atul Kapoor, MD, Regency Hospital; Neeraj Gupta, joint MD, MKU Private Ltd.; Raj Kumar Lohia, chairman, Lohia Group; Deepak Kothari, chairman and MD, Kothari Products, and alumnus Gopal Sutwala, among others were present at the event.

IIT Kanpur director S Ganesh said: “The establishment of the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology, and the Yadupati Singhania Super Specialty Hospital is a crucial milestone in our journey towards excellence in healthcare and medical innovation.”

“Occasions such as these events provide us with an opportunity to connect with the industry and paving the way for pioneering advancements. The contributions from the industry visionaries of the state embody IIT Kanpur’s commitment to excellence, and we are confident that their impact will resonate globally,” he added.

Praising the initiatives of IIT Kanpur, president of JK Cements AK Saraogi said: “The Gangwal School will usher in a revolution in the medical field in the city of Kanpur, akin to the transformative impact IIT had in the engineering domain when it was established in the 1960s. I am extremely delighted to be a part of this visionary project and look forward to many more such initiatives from the Institute.”

IIT Kanpur alumnus Gopal Sutwala said: “It is a matter of immense pride for the residents of Kanpur to witness the emergence of such an ambitious and groundbreaking project in our city.
