Interventional Systems names new CEO amid leadership changes

Miniature surgical robot developer Interventional Systems announced a number of executive changes including a switch in the corner office.

Dr Michael Vogele, who founded Interventional Systems, intends to step down as CEO. The company tabbed former chief product officer Pedro Costa to succeed him. Additionally, the company named Srdjan Milosavljevic chief technology officer (CTO). Milosavljevic led Interventional Systems’ R&D team previously.

The two new appointments join co-founder and CFO, Thomas Pfeifer, and COO Patrick Lambardt, in the company’s C-suite.

In a blog posted on the company’s website, Interventional Systems’ said Vogele’s mark goes beyond that of a founder and CEO.

“Michael set the tone for what would be the company’s key values: a restless love for all good ideas, an unrelenting willingness to try new things and the absolute certainty that if you want to be surrounded by the best, you must treat them like so,” the post reads. “These principles are now a part of our ethos and, even if we know that Michael is still going to be collaborating closely with us, even if it is in stealth mode, we are all going to miss him dearly. Thank you, Michael.”

Costa and Milosavljevic both have several years under their belts in leadership roles at Interventional Systems.

“Pedro and Srdjan have had a very active participation in the design, development and commercialization of our company’s products, and those skills make them most suitable for the new phase the company is entering, one entailing broader business development and the diversification of the products’ applications,” the blog said. “We’ve seen Pedro and Srdjan blossom into two of the most knowledgeable, devoted and kind leaders we know, so we are looking forward to what’s to come.” MassDevice
