Mansukh Mandaviya is MoH&FW and Bharati Pravin Pawar, the Minister of State

The first Cabinet reshuffle since the Narendra Modi-led government took office saw 12 ministers getting axed, seven junior ministers being promoted as Cabinet ministers, and 36 new faces being inducted to the council of ministers at the swearing in ceremony held in the Darbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Several important ministries in the Indian government now have new leaders with the administration unveiling a new-look cabinet. Some top cabinet ministers have new portfolios—the new Cooperation Ministry will be headed by Home Minister Amit Shah, Piyush Goyal lost railways but has been put in charge of textiles, earlier under Smriti Irani. Many have been elevated from minister of state to cabinet rank and given new portfolios to manage.

Union Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan resigned ahead of the reshuffle. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr Harsh Vardhan was handling three departments– health, science and technology, earth sciences.

Mansukh Mandaviya has been appointed as Minister of Health and Family Welfare; and Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers and Bharati Pravin Pawar Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Mansukh Mandaviya is Rajya Sabha Member from Gujarat. Owing to his intellect, skills and the zeal to work hard he started his political career as a leader of Yuva Morcha followed by the President of Palitana BJP unit. He also holds a record of being one of the youngest MLA in Gujarat.

Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar is one of the seven women out of the 43 leaders to be part of Prime minister Modi’s reshuffled Cabinet. Dr Pawar was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from Dindori in the 2019 Indian General Election as the Member of Parliament from the ruling party, BJP. Dindora is a Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra. She has been awarded the Best Women Parliamentarian in December 2019. The 43-year-old doctor turned politician completed her MBBS degree in 2002 from NDMVP’s Medical College, Pune University. Dr Pawar is also a medical practitioner and farmer.

Dr Pawar is the second daughter-in-law of eight-time MLA and ex-minister AT Pawar. Reportedly, Dr Pawar left Rashtrawadi Congress due to internal conflicts and became a prominent member of the BJP.
