Modi Inaugurates 201-Bed Hospital in Surat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Shreemati Rasilaben Sevantilal Shah Venus Hospital, a 201-bed multi-specialty hospital in the campus of Ashaktashram Hospital in Rampura area of Surat on Wednesday. At the event, chief minister Vijay Rupani and minister of state for health Kishore Kanani was also present. Guests from the city’s diamond industry and Mumbai along with business and industry leaders from other sectors were also present. The hospital has been developed by Venus Jewels, one of the largest diamond units in the city and named after wife of its owner Sevanitilal Shah. “Who can be better than PM Modi to inaugurate a hospital that has been developed with the idea of ethical medical practices since the issue is close to his heart. His family’s simple life is proof of his ethics,” said Shah at the event.

Shah assured the gathering that the hospital will offer affordable treatment without any unnecessary treatment. He dedicated the hospital to the diamond city residents on the golden jubilee of Venus Jewel, which was founded by Sevantilal and his brother Ramnik in 1969. In his speech, Modi applauded Shah for strictly following his values. The Prime Minister claimed that his government created vaccination programs in such a way that it benefited maximum people. He also talked about preventive healthcare steps taken by the government. “When I talked about toilets and cleanliness from Red Fort, people laughed at me. But now, women are blessing us. People made joke about Yoga but now the world acknowledges its importance in preventing illness,” he said.

Further on, Modi said, “The government has introduced 10 percent reservation in education and jobs for those belonging to the economically weaker section of the society in the general category. I am happy that the Gujarat government implemented the reservation immediately.” He explained that there is no change made to quotas of those classes, which were getting reserved seats. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that over 10 lakh people have taken advantage of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in such a short period. “The scheme covers 50 crore people and is the largest healthcare scheme in the world. Every day, 10,000 people are taking advantage of it,” he added. The PM claimed that the scheme will create a medical infrastructure across the country. New hospitals will come up in towns and create new jobs and medical education institutions. He also spoke about generic medicine related schemes floated by his government. Modi claimed that when he was CM he opened science colleges in tribal areas between Umargam to Ambaji which was not there. – TOI
