OGKTMA Donates C-Arm to MGM Hospital

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MGM), the teaching hospital of Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal received a C-Arm medical equipment as donation from Osmania Gandhi Kakatiya Medical and Telangana Medical Alumni Association of America (OGKTMA). The equipment worth Rs 45 lakh is used for orthopedic and urology surgeries, now patients need not go to private hospitals and spend a fortune on treatment. “We are so proud of the impact our university programs and facilities have on our life and career,” said Dr Sujeeth R Punnam, C-Arm project lead and immediate past president, after the successful installation of the equipment in the institution.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Superintendent of MGM Hospital, Dr Srinivas; Registrar of Health Sciences, Dr Praveen; Head of Orthopedics Department, Dr Venkateshwarlu; and on behalf of OGKTMA, Dr P Sujeeth R Punnam attended the program. “The alumni contribute to our success through their service,” said Dr Praveen. OGKTMA was formed initially as Osmania University Medical Alumni Association when there were only three medical colleges under Osmania University and which earlier catered to the current Telangana region. Since its inception it has developed libraries in medical colleges, built alumni centers etc. Taking the spirit of giving back to the community, the association equipped 170 public ambulances in Telangana with automatic defibrillators worth Rs 1.1 crore with the help from Rotary International, which contributed 40 percent of the cost. – Telangana Today
