Patent award for technology used in Mispa i3

“It’s a proud moment for us as an IVD manufacturing company based in the state of Kerala is earning patents for its indigenous technology developed with a world-class R&D program in addition to the strength of high-quality indigenization and commercialization”, the honourable minister for law, industries, and coir – Kerala State, P Rajeeve commented during the “Journey of Innovation”-ceremony on 29th November 2022, when he was unveiling the technology patent awarded to Agappe’s cartridge-based specific protein analyzer, Mispa i3, at the corporate headquarters of the company. The minister pointed out the commendable support offered to the laboratory fraternity during the Covid pandemic through the products and services of Agappe which nearly catered to 75% of the Covid prognosis and diagnosis needs of the then market.

The minister mentioned that the business ecosystem and opportunities get nurtured in the best way possible by utilizing the local talents and highlighted the primary need of strengthening the connection between academic institutions and industrial establishments. Agappe is already setting examples along similar lines through technology transfers and educational partnerships with some of the major medical as well as engineering institutions in and around the state. Secondly, the need of scaling up skills has become an inevitable pre-requisite for every industry, especially in the medical field, where Agappe is setting up in-house centres of excellence creating learning and knowledge enhancement opportunities. Finally, P Rajeeve wished the Agappe team for their remarkable achievements.

The Managing Director of Agappe Diagnostics Ltd., Thomas John stated that with a 4% of the company’s expenditure on R&D activities, way above the national average of 0.7%, Agappe is always set to successfully continue its journey of innovation, which has resulted in indigenous innovations and patents getting listed under the Intellectual Property in India. He also reported that Agappe is planning for an investment of around 500cr. in the next 3 years by commissioning new manufacturing plants in different parts of the district which will provide ample employment opportunities and improvement in the valued offerings for the medical fraternity.
