PGI has been chosen to implement the e-rupi scheme

The PGI has been chosen as one of the country’s two centres to offer e-rupi under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. As part of this, a break-up of research and therapy will be developed to figure out how much money is being expended on tests and therapies separately, according to Prof Vivek Lal, PGI’s director. He said that the e rupi method of digital payment would be used to determine how much money is being expended on investigations and therapy. The goal is to know the cost/benefit analysis as well as the research being conducted. Presently, there are no reports available to estimate how much money is being expended on treatment and tests under Ayushman Bharat.

According to a PGI official, this initiative can foster accountability. Ayushman Bharat Yojana is a health insurance scheme that provides up to Rs 5 lakh per family unit per annum to eligible beneficiaries. Under this model, all public sector hospitals have been included in the gyrations. For implementation of the scheme, PGIMER and the National Health Agency had signed a memorandum of understanding.

The National Health Agency has identified 1,395 packages for treatment purposes and allocated them.On completion of therapy, a claim for compensation is filed. Times Now Bureau
