Plans for 2021

Ujala Cygnus Healthcare Services, an Amar Ujala Group collaboration, operates 13 NABH-accredited hospitals having 1300 beds and 2000 local medical talents across Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. It focuses on delivering tertiary healthcare to the underserved communities in small towns with its thrust on emergency medical facilities to increase the patient’s chances of survival during the golden hour. To compliment this effort further, we have institutionalized centers for excellence in intensive care, neurology, and cardiology. Our recent achievement is being recognized with prestigious gold certificate for quality culture under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY Scheme, making it the first hospital in Haryana and the second in the country. Under the scheme, we have treated 5,500 beneficiaries in less than two years’ time. The major healthcare services offered by Ujala Cygnus’s Hospitals are trauma, cardiology, high-end critical care, neurosurgery, joint replacement, and advanced laparoscopy.

Our vision and mission
Since most of the corporate Indian healthcare providers are focusing on urban India, so we are planning to cater to the neglected sectors of tier II and tier III cities, where availing quality healthcare is still a challenge and the residents of these places had to travel a lot to get themselves checked in a tertiary healthcare centers. It has been seen that many patients die in these cities because of unavailability of quality healthcare services. We are also among very few healthcare groups, who have attempted to create multiple access points to people who have very limited access to good and reliable treatment at affordable prices. Our mission is to provide a hub-and-spoke model to provide immediate care at spokes and value-based secondary and tertiary care with super specialty doctors at the hub, which is equipped with all modern equipment.

Our plans for 2021
The next three years are going to be crucial for us as we have vast expansion plans. We will expand the bouquet of our hospitals and will introduce around ten hospitals in tier 2 and tier 3 cities of Northern India including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu. The idea behind our expansion plan is to grow within the gamut of Amar Ujala footprint areas so that we can not only leverage the trust of the communities but also can cash in on the network and brand name of the leading publication house. As coronavirus pandemic has paved the way for digital health, we are also expanding our digital health solutions – our hospital app, telemedicines, remote consultations including preventive care, specialized diagnosis or for virtual monitoring of patients- in first phase in our footprint area and in second phase to other areas with collaboration and standalone basis.

Investment plan
We run our hospitals on an asset light model and do not invest in real estatet. To fund our expansion plan we would need around ₹100 crore, which will be funded primarily by equity from existing shareholders- Right now we do not have any plan to expand our shareholders’ base. We are creating an institution with high brand equity to focus on patient-centric convenient and affordable healthcare delivery models by creating multiple access points using technology such as home health, telehealth at affordable price points to the community.

Focus area
Our major spotlight will be on building an inclusive and integrated healthcare model along with a health education and wellness center, which is very unique and differentiated to focus on patient centric approach and own the community around the district, tehsils, blocks, and villages. Besides, we also look at opportunities to work with the government in PPO models and with the public sector to manage and run hospitals. We are already running the cardiology center of Uttarakhand government at Kashipore.
