INDORE: Public health and hospitals are in state list and a primary and exclusive responsibility of the state, Union ministry of health and family welfare said while replying to a PIL filed against lack of facilities in government hospitals in Malwa-Nimar region.
The role of the Centre under National Health Mission is only to provide financial assistance in accordance to its share and implementation is exclusive role of state, said ministry in the reply.
The ministry prayed that under these circumstances, the Centre should be discharged from array of parties and court may pass order in interest of justice by considering this.
The Centre filed the reply in the petition submitted by Bhavishya, a law student through his counsel Manish Vijaywargiya against lack of X-ray, CT Scan, MRI machines, inadequacy of doctors, trained staff, ambulances, beds and lack of basic infrastructure in Malwa-Nimar region.
Ministry further stated that it had provided many services including ambulance, mobile medical units, doctors and paramedical staffs, ANM, Asha workers, installed free diagnostic service initiatives, help through Rogi Shayat Samitis, upgradation of PHCs, CHCs and others.- Times Of India
