Punjab to set up more Aam Aadmi Clinics, allocates Rs 249 crore

Buoyed by the public response to its Aam Aadmi Clinics, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said the government would go ahead with opening more such clinics across the state. A special allocation of Rs 249 crore has been made for the financial year 2024-25. The government has earmarked Rs 5,264 crore for the health sector for the coming financial year.

Over 1 Crore utilised facilities
More than one crore patients have utilised health facilities at the clinics to date. An amount of Rs 2,227 crore has been spent on treatment through 207 public, 570 private and 6 Centre-empanelled hospitals.

The state has established 829 Aam Aadmi Clinics till date. As many as 80 medicines and 38 diagnostic laboratory tests are being provided free of cost. The Finance Minister informed the House that more than one crore patients had availed themselves of the health facilities at these clinics so far.

Healthcare in case of medical emergencies of road accidents would be taken care under the Farishtey scheme launched recently. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently launched special vehicles with an intent to reduce deaths due to injuries sustained in road accidents.

Farishtey is being incentivised to encourage people to come forward, helping the needy in case of emergency.

The government cards have been generated for 35.59 lakh families under the Ayushman Bharat: Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana. An amount of Rs 2,227 crore has been spent on treatment through 207 public, 570 private and six Government of India empanelled hospitals.

Aam Aadmi Clinics provide at least 80 medicines and 38 diagnostic laboratory tests free of cost. Punjab has made 829 Aam Aadmi Clinics functional and the plans include covering all left-out areas of the state. Tribune India
