Seemant Jauhari joins Jungle Ventures as healthcare partner

HealthXCapital’s general partner, Seemant Jauhari, is joining Jungle Ventures as healthcare partner. The Singapore-based investor will continue managing his portfolio from HealthXCapital and will make new healthcare investments in India and Southeast Asia on behalf of Jungle Ventures for this new role.

Jauhari launched HealthXCapital in late 2017 as one of the first early-stage healthtech-focused VCs in the region.

The firm launched its $25-million debut fund in 2018 and has since deployed in 10 startups across diverse healthcare sectors, including home care, ambulatory care, insurtech, data sciences, and brain health.

Some of its portfolio companies include RED.Health, Homage, Breath Diagnostics, Childhealth Imprints, JanaCare, Medfin, Praktice.ai, StanPlus Powered Ambulance, and THB.

The fund has also been fully deployed, Jauhari confirmed with DealStreetAsia.

HealthXCapital was backed by well-known strategics and investors in the healthcare space, including India’s Apollo Hospitals, Eight Roads Ventures, the investment arm of Fidelity International, Enterprise Singapore, and other private investors. Jungle Ventures was a co-anchor limited partner (LP) in the fund.

Prior to running HealthXCapital, Jauhari spent over seven years at Apollo Hospitals, one of India’s largest hospital chains. He was CEO of Research and Innovations, and prior to that, also led its Education and Research Foundation unit.

“Having been at the helm of HealthXCapital since its inception, Seemant has effectively established a smart connected capital platform for healthcare startups in the region. His prior experience as CEO – Innovations & Research at Apollo Hospitals, one of the largest healthcare groups in Asia, demonstrates his adeptness in scouting, evaluating, and commercialising innovations across diverse domains,” wrote Amit Anand, Managing Partner at Jungle Ventures, in a statement.
