SVIMS Initiates New Steps for Patients Safety

Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) has launched two new programs on the occasion of World Patient Safety Day as part of its ongoing strategy to improve patient care. Under the first program, the data on Real-time Patient Experience of care from the last six months will be uploaded in its website which will be accessible to public. Under the second initiative, it will start Patient Safety and Quality dashboard in all the wards. A proposal has been sent by SVIMS Director Dr TS Ravikumar incorporating these measures to ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) and DGHS (Director General of Health Services).

Over the last three years, a series of patient safety measures were implemented at SVIMS at periodic intervals. The Director revealed that the new initiative was an important addition to the work already in progress over the last three years so that patients can give feedback regularly and without fear. “Our focus was in improving hospital safety and we have calculated preventable deaths in hospitals from the experience got during the last three years. – The Hans India
