This Doctor Is Making Healthcare Very Cheap For All, And His Idea Is The Future Of Medicine
Now, this doctor is trying to change that fact by upturning the whole system.
Iora is a new healthcare group set up by CEO Rushika Fernandopulle. As a doctor fifteen years ago, he realised that the sort of treatment he wanted to give patients wasn’t covered by their insurance. So he decided he’d switch things up.
“Working in the system, you have to be blind deaf and dumb to not realize that the system is broken,” he told Business Insider. And since then, since the system worked so well, he’s refined the system even further. Instead of the patient paying, now sponsors cover the monthly fee.

The idea is that, this system works for Iora because it eventually reduces the stress on doctors, as well as the financial pressures on patients. More frequent doctor’s visits keep patients healthy on a regular basis as opposed to coming in and being charged whenever they’re really sick.
Basically, instead of your medical insurance paying half of your treatment cost, this system instead has your medical insurance give you a sort of membership subscription with your doctor without you having to co-pay. And because you’re staying healthier, you need fewer visits. Iora says some of its patients in this program have reduced hospital admissions by as much as 50 percent.
Perhaps it’s something India could do as well, offering health subscriptions like gym memberships. First though, we’d have to actually get enough doctors out into the community. – Indiatimes
