TN will distribute family health cards to all households

All households in the state will receive family health cards with details of their names, age, occupation, health status, and treatment, according to health minister Ma Subramanian. The program will be part of the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam initiative, in which individuals are tested and assessed for diabetes and hypertension right at their doorsteps. Under this scheme, individuals can also receive dialysis kits, physiotherapy, and palliative care. According to his statement, the Greater Chennai Corporation had distributed these cards to some families in the area.

Although about 75% of residents in the state have been tested for diabetes and hypertension, it is only around 31%, according to him. According to him, the model family booklet distributed by the civic department to some residences has now been distributed to every household in the city and state. Diabetes, hypertension, cancer (oral, breast, and cervix), mental illness, pulmonary disease, TB, chronic kidney disease, leprosy, and tuberculosis have been tested by the social service. In the book, there is also a calendar of follow-up services.

In the last year, Tamil Nadu has screenbed 4.48 crore adults out of the country’s 5.98 crore adults. We have discovered that 33 lakh people have hypertension, 23.1 lakh have diabetes, and 16.8 lakh have a combination of all these diseases.At least three lakh people have been treated with palliative care, and around 6 lakh have been treated with physiotherapy.So far, the city has seen 17 lakh patients, out of which 1.9 lakh have been treated with hypertension and 1.5 lakh have diabetes.

More than 83 lakh drugs have been sold so far. Screening is done in outreach medical camps and in hospitals. Along with the medical kit, each beneficiary is given a treatment card that summarizes the drug regimen and the replacement date.According to him, the replacement kits are available in bags.

On the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, the state will discuss the success of this initiative. Subramanian said that Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, who was enthralled by the program, has invited us to address the forum. Times Now Bureau
